Base Camp for Hiking Adventures
There are dozens of day hikes and short hikes that take you atop mountain ridges, along rivers and waterfalls, through the woods or along Lake Superior’s rocky shore! Easy strolls to difficult climbs, for young and old are all abundant either on-site or within a short drive from Eagle Ridge Resort.
On Site Hiking
Step outside your door and hike on over to the Superior Hiking Trail and Poplar River Falls. Or, combine a 3-4 mile hike on the Superior Hiking Trail with a ride on the Lutsen Mountain Tram, which makes a loop from Eagle Ridge Resort to the summit of Moose Mountain. The famed Superior Hiking Trail treks from Duluth to Canada and traverses over the mountain ridgelines, boasting the best views of Lake Superior and the Superior National Forest to be had.
Short Drive Away:
From easy to advanced, many trails are located at the North Shore’s eight state parks. Here is the best place to hike a trail along a river and waterfall, and along Lake Superior’s rocky shore. Eagle Ridge is centrally located to all of the park on the North Shore, and two are within a 10 minute drive (Cascade River and Temperance River State Parks).
The Superior Hiking Trail. Backpacker Magazine rates the 200 mile Superior Hiking Trail as one of the nation’s “10 prime trails that leave all others in the dust.”
